Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated:

TL;DR: The URLScanner.online Chrome Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It only opens a new tab to urlscanner.online when you right-click a link, selected text, or the current page. That’s it.

1. Overview

This privacy policy applies to the URLScanner.online Chrome Extension (the “Extension”) published on the Chrome Web Store. The Extension is developed and maintained by URLScanner.online.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data the Extension accesses, what it does with that data, and what it does not do.

2. What the Extension Does

The Extension adds three context-menu items (right-click menu) to your browser:

 • Scan link — right-click any hyperlink to scan its URL.
 • Scan selection — right-click selected text to scan it as a URL or domain.
 • Scan this page — right-click anywhere to scan the current tab’s URL.

When you click one of these menu items, the Extension opens a new tab pointing to https://urlscanner.online/?url=<encoded-url>. The scan itself is performed entirely by the URLScanner.online website — the Extension does nothing else.

3. Data Collected by the Extension

The Extension itself collects no data whatsoever.

 • No browsing history is recorded or transmitted.
 • No personal information is stored locally or sent to any server.
 • No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting is embedded in the Extension.
 • The Extension does not communicate with any backend other than opening a tab to urlscanner.online.

The URL you choose to scan is passed as a query parameter in the tab URL you open — the same as if you manually typed it into the URLScanner.online website. That URL is then processed according to the URLScanner.online website privacy policy.

4. Permissions Used

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

 • contextMenus — to add the right-click menu items described above. Without this permission the Extension cannot function.
 • tabs — to open a new browser tab pointing to URLScanner.online when you click a menu item. The Extension does not read tab contents, URLs, or history; it only creates a new tab.

No other permissions are requested or used.

5. Data Sharing

The Extension does not share any data with third parties. No user data, browsing history, or personal information is sold, rented, or disclosed to anyone. The only “data transfer” that occurs is the URL you explicitly choose to scan being appended to the URLScanner.online address in the new tab your browser opens — initiated entirely by your own action.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the Extension collects no data at all, this policy applies equally to all users regardless of age.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.

8. Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy or the Extension, please contact us at privacy@urlscanner.online.
